“The song tells a song of a recently married woman whose husband is incapable of loving her (even though he tried), resulting in the couple sleeping in separate rooms on their honeymoon, to her dismay. It would appear that the marriage ended in the husband’s abandoning his bride, leaving her with no more than the titular ‘band of gold’. Possible interpretations of the lyrics might include an allusion to the husband’s impotence, or perhaps his homosexuality.” (via)
I love this song! It reminds me of when I was obsessed with “My Girl” - oh, the good ol’ days…
“tbh, I think she’s [Katy Perry] one of the worst things to happen to the music industry.”
How can someone who swears by all things glittery be the worst thing to happen to the music industry?? She has single-handedly boosted the sales of cherry chapstick worldwide probably!! She wore a dress with a functioning carousel!! She has a really good rack!!
Shame on you @jacobjunior7. It is the advent of reality TV, and “acts” like Leona Lewis who have ruined the music industry. As wave upon wave of bland, unoriginal females launch mediocre records off the back of being able to hold a note for three seconds, actual creative people, actual artists, people with charisma and showmanship are being drowned in the vibrato.
BRING BACK GIRL POWER.
Ditto. Her originality is a huge WIN among the epic FAILS the rest of the music industry has been producing during the past decade of cookie-cutter “artists.”
I’m no good at waiting for things. I want a new tattoo, or rather to get my massive back piece finished. I can’t do it right now because we’re supposed to be saving money for the vacation we’re taking in a few weeks… Maybe I’ll get something small to hold me over until I can do the rest.
Hold out to get what I really want or settle for something else for now? Thoughts?
This song has been played 96 times since I got it last week. Seriously, listen to it and put a smile on that face. Or! Dance around your room while singing along to it at the top of your lungs! That’s what I do… I can’t help iiiiiit!
